Frontier Project is for anyone who wants to take a year out to serve the church and receive excellent Biblical and practical training. It is a year which will challenge you, stretch you and help you grow in your walk with God and your ability to lead and serve in the Church.

Many people do FP as a gap year before or after university but it is open to anyone of any age.

FP is a stretching, challenging, exciting year out! I had a chance to try lots of different things and learnt a huge amount about myself, God and the local church.

An FP year has three main components. The first is based here at King’s where you can serve in many different areas giving you a chance to grow in your gifting and stretch yourself by trying new things.

Here at King’s we have a wide range of activities FP students can get involved in, making it a great base church for the year. Previous FP students have been involved in:

  • Community projects such as King’s Cafe and the Furniture Scheme
  • Youth work
  • Children’s work
  • Worship
  • Church admin
  • Design projects
  • Alpha and evangelistic activities
  • Preaching and teaching

The second key element is regular input from one of the church leaders who makes the FP students a priority. They provide both support and ongoing training. At King’s this is usually fulfilled by Mike Sprenger.

The third part of FP is training and study. Training weeks in Newcastle with other FP students from the North region give you a solid foundation in Biblical Theology and practical training in different areas of serving and leadership from some of the most experience leaders and teachers in Newfrontiers. FP students also have time for personal study each week and complete a few assignments on the back of training blocks throughout the year.

In addition the year includes two mission trips, one in the UK serving a church plant another abroad, often in Albania.
