King’s is led by a group of elders, with one as lead elder. We believe this is the model seen in the early church as recorded in the New Testament.
Phil and Sally met when just teenagers and married at the tender ages of twenty one and twenty respectively. Sally trained as a secretary and worked for the University of Oxford as a PA. Phil, along with his father and brother, started and ran a construction company in Oxfordshire for thirty years. After eleven years of marriage they were blessed with their two children, Tim and Alice.
In 1999 they were called to leave everything behind in Oxfordshire and move to the north of the country where they led a Church in Teesside for a number of years and have been leading King’s Church Darlington since 2008.

Mike and Kay met each other through Campus Crusade for Christ. In Brighton Mike joined Terry Virgo’s staff working as an evangelist throughout the UK and other nations. In 1998 they moved north to Sheffield, then Leeds before coming to Darlington 3 years ago. At the last count they have 5 children, 7 grandchildren and love Jesus, people and life.

Jonathan and Fran met and married in Durham and moved to Darlington in 1988. They have three grown up sons and are very proud of them! Jonathan started out as a scientist and lecturer and now works in Marketing in the chemical industry in Teesside. Fran worked for ten years as a teacher and a signer in the deaf community and is now a Disability Adviser at Durham University. They have been involved in church leadership in various roles in both Durham and Darlington. Jonathan ‘runs to eat’ with The Quaker Running Club; Fran eats and doesn’t need to run!

Paul and Maria also met in Durham while Paul was studying Theology and Maria was doing her nurse training. Maria works part time in Darlington with the NHS as a Health Visitor and Paul works for the Health Protection Agency. They have lived in Darlington since 1986. They are also the proud parents of three children and have been in various leadership roles in Durham and Darlington, but are not actually the same people as Jonathan and Fran!
