At King’s we believe that worship is at the heart of everything we do as Christians. In one way or another every part of our lives is an expression of worship and when we get together as King’s Church we love to spend time in corporate worship. Our Sunday gathering usually starts with around forty-five minutes devoted to worship and prayer. Then once a month our Sunday evening Refresh meetings allow us to spend a relaxed and unhurried time in God’s presence. Worship also features in connect group meetings, prayer times, children’s meetings and on many other occasions when the church gathers together.
Jesus gave his followers a clear lead on worship when he said “the hour is coming … when the true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and truth, for the Father is seeking such people to worship him.” (John 4:23). At King’s we want to respond to Jesus’ call. Our times of worship together are marked by a focus on the truth of who Jesus is and what he has done for us and by an openness to God’s spirit among us, bringing us to encounter with God and glorify him.
If the last time you entered a church you were greeted by the sound of the organ or the chanting of medieval plainsong, then you will discover a different style of worship at King’s. Today we are fortunate to have songs that express our worship and tell God’s story in ways that are lively, singable, accessible and contemporary. We use songs by song writers from the Newfrontiers family of churches, individuals in King’s, Jesus Culture, Worship Central, Hillsong and many others.
We have several worship teams, made up of members of the church and we are particularly keen to encourage young musicians to be involved. All of these teams have the vision to serve and not to perform. Their desire is to enable worship that expresses the whole of our lives with Jesus and allows God’s Spirit to move among us.
